KARACHI: On Thursday, Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad stated that the toll tax was implemented in order for the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) to be able to support the city on its own.
Speaking on Pakistan, Abdullah stated that the Sindh Excise Department would be in responsibility of collecting the toll levy on highways under the control of the KMC.
In response to a query, he said that in order to make commuters’ lives easier, work was now being done on thoroughfares inside the KMC’s boundaries.
The City Council authorized the toll tax collection from cars use Karachi’s highways and bridges on Tuesday during a meeting with the Sindh Excise and Taxation Department.
The new tax was authorized by the forum based on a resolution that was submitted.
Following the meeting, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab addressed a press conference, stating that while numerous organizations, like as the National Highway, were collecting toll taxes, no taxes were being paid in Karachi.
People are reminded not to dump offal on public roads.
Abdullah added that all of the towns had been included in the local government’s plan to lift the offal on Eid ul Adha.
He asked people not to dump offal on the roads.
He declared, “We’ll try to work together to make the city cleaner.”
