Karachi: News reported on Thursday that street robbers in Karachi did not even spare a betel (pan) shop, demonstrating how vulnerable the people living in Pakistan’s financial center are to these crooks.
On June 12 at around 11 p.m., three unidentified guys arrived in a police car in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal 13-D neighborhood and robbed a shopkeeper of Rs. 15,000 in cash and cigarettes valued up to Rs. 50,000.
In the meantime, the impacted shopkeeper’s complaint led to the police filing a first information report (FIR) about the occurrence.
The FIR also refers to an earlier this month on June 2, when three guys stole Rs 7,000 in cash and escaped.
After the event, the shopkeeper claimed he was forced to sit in the police car, which did not have a rear vehicle identification number (VIN).
The affected individual was let off at the Gulshan-e-Iqbal roundabout after an additional Rs 10,000 had been stolen from his pocket, according to the FIR.
The local closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras’ footage is being examined by the police as part of their efforts to track down the culprits.
The tragedy takes place in the midst of a surge in street crimes in the city in recent months, where criminals have claimed the lives of over 70 individuals.
