LONDON: The United KingdomBusinessman Liaqat Malik of Pakistan claimed to have lost more than £200,000 as a result of the well-known singer Malkoo’s exclusion from Pakistan on the day of Eid, when Malik had scheduled multiple performances for her in the United Kingdom.
Malkoo, a folk-popular Punjabi musician, was initially halted at the Lahore airport on Sunday, June 16, and then again on Monday, June 17, 2024, despite Malik’s booking of Malkoo to perform at places in London and beyond.
Due to the tour’s cancellation, vocalist Sara Altaf, who was also scheduled to accompany the singer, has not traveled to the UK.
Over the phone, Malkoo, also known as Muhammad Ashraf Malik, informed Geo News that he had no idea why his name had been put to the stop.
“I’ve performed music for everyone. I sing, and the whole nation adores me for it. I was informed that I was placed on the stop list by the kind airport employees. I’ve performed a lot of songs, but Nak Da Koka was a huge smash. It simply took place. I hold everyone in high regard. I would ask the authorities to investigate and grant me permission to go. It is not nice to discriminate in this way.”
Malik extended an invitation to Sher Afzal Marwat, a PTI MP who managed to travel and reached London on Monday afternoon. Speaking at the news conference alongside Liaqat Malik close to Heathrow Airport, he denounced the measures taken against Malkoo that resulted in the performance cancellations.
