KHYBER: According to authorities on Wednesday, senior journalist Khalil Jibran was shot and killed by unidentified assailants close to his home in the town of Landi Kotal in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
District Police Officer (DPO) Khyber Salim Abbas stated that Jibran, who was connected to the private news station Khyber News, was attacked by unknown miscreants riding a motorcycle as he was riding towards his home with his buddy Sajjad Advocate.
He described how the gunmen encircled the journalist, forced him out of his car, and started shooting at him when his car broke down close to his house.
Former Landi Kotal Press Club president Jibran passed away instantly, Sajjad was injured, and the perpetrators left the scene. The policeman added that his body was taken to a hospital in Landi Kotal for a postmortem examination.
He said that the incident happened in the Mazreena neighborhood close to the Landi Kotal Police Station.
Terrorists had also threatened Jibran, according to Abbas.

According to the DPO, who spoke with Geo News, Sajjad, an eyewitness to the murder, filed a first information report (FIR) at the Landi Kotal police station, accusing the unidentified suspects.
The case now includes provisions related to terrorism, according to the DPO.
In the meantime, the dead journalist’s funeral prayer was attended by a number of people before he was laid to rest in his hometown of Sultan Khel.
On the Khyber-Pak-Afghan highway, where Gibran’s remains was also kept, journalists, politicians, and social celebrities staged a protest before the funeral prayer.
The demonstrators called for the murderer of the journalist to be taken into custody right now.
