Pesco files a lawsuit against PTI MNA for forcing the restoration of the power supply.

NOWSHERA: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Zulfiqar Khan was sued on Thursday by the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) for “forcibly restoring power supply” to 17 feeders in Nowshera.

Along with party workers, the MNA associated with the PTI assaulted the grid stations at Pabbi and Taru Jaba, restoring the electrical supply. Pesco has responded by sending a letter requesting that the lawmaker be sued for this act.

This is not an isolated incidence; there have also been instances of electricity supplies being forcibly restored in Mardan, Charsadda, Tank, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan), and Peshawar.

As the loadshedding began on Wednesday, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur personally seized a grid station, restoring electricity to some parts of DI Khan and laying down his own outage plan.

CM Gandapur set a 12-hour load shedding duration for the occasion.

“Loadshedding won’t go longer than 12 hours in any place. To make sure the loadshedding schedule is being followed, assembly members had to stop by the grid stations in their respective regions, he advised.

Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Fazal Elahi, a member of the PTI-backed Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), forced his way into the Rehman Baba grid station in Peshawar on Tuesday and restored power to his area after protests erupted due to loadshedding. This started a trend of forcibly entering power grid stations in KP.

In May, as well, furious residents of the capital city of KP restored power by breaking into the Hazar Khawani grid station. The unrelenting loadshedding had sparked protests throughout the sweltering weather.
