LAHORE: Citing security concerns, the Punjab government enforced Section 144 throughout the state for a period of seven days.
The News claims that the Home Department made its decision in response to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) demand for a statewide demonstration to preserve the integrity of today’s election at 2:00 PM.
According to the department’s regulations, Section 144 will be in effect across the province from June 21 to June 27.
All forms of gatherings, including sit-ins, rallies, processions, marches, meetings, and the like, are prohibited in Punjab during this period, according to the order.
The Home Department stated that any public gathering of individuals could be a soft target because of the province’s existing state of public order and security risks.
