Parts of Karachi saw small rains following predictions of rain in the next several days, but the city was still scorching hot in anticipation of the monsoon season.
Light rain was experienced in the old city regions, Gulshan, North Karachi, North Nazimabad, Garden, Lyari, and Saddar.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), there will be additional rain or drizzle in some places due to the effect of clouds in Karachi’s northeast.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz said that rain would probably hit Karachi’s suburbs on June 22 or 23, as the city battles intense heat.
Earlier in the day, Sarfaraz stated that rain was predicted in the vicinity of the Super Highway and that “more than normal” showers could fall in Sindh, which includes Karachi.
The past few weeks have seen a dry and hot stretch throughout Sindh, including Karachi. However, today’s rain and thunderstorms have broken the pattern, bringing relief to Larkana, Shikarpur, Shahdadkot, Jacobabad, and other sections of the province.
In addition, the chief meteorologist stated that the monsoon may start in Punjab and Kashmir on June 29 or 30, although it is more likely to start in Sindh after July 5 or 6.
