An “informal meeting” between Israeli intelligence officials and U.S. national security adviser Jake Sullivan occurred on Thursday, June 20, despite the official meeting between Israeli and U.S. officials being canceled due to tensions between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Biden over policy differences regarding the Gaza war.
Since the meeting was centered on Iran’s nuclear weapon, it was decided that it was too crucial to postpone for any reason. This urgent high-level conference was called, according to Axios, to address fresh intelligence regarding Iranian scientists’ computer modeling activities aimed at developing nuclear weapons.
This finding may very well change the conclusions of the U.S. intelligence community, which has maintained since 2007 that Iran is not actively working on developing an atomic weapon.
During his historic speech in the White House Rose Garden on April 2, 2015, President Obama—Benjamin’s former boss—described the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) as “a robust and verifiable deal” that would ostensibly “peacefully prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.”

But neither “simple verifications” nor “robust verifications” were in place. Iran misled the world and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), even making fun of them on Iranian state television and other media outlets for believing the mullahs and the IRGC.
Nine years later, it appears that Biden’s Iran strategy, if one exists at all, is predicated on giving the JCPOA “life support.”
