When Amber Heard recently praised fans for their support of Mera’s comeback, she seemed to be poke fun at Warner Bros. after earlier accusing the studio of undervaluing her part in the Aquaman sequel.
“After all this time, ‘Aquaman 2’ made its splash (sorry, it’s too easy),” the DC star wrote on Instagram, thanking her followers.
“I am so grateful to all of my fans for their unwavering love and support during Mera’s [‘Aquaman’] comeback. Many thanks for it.”
The post was made in response to Amber’s accusation that Warner Bros. reduced her part during the 2022 Johnny Depp trial.
She said in court that the studio “didn’t want to include me,” saying they finally decided on a “pared down version.”
But James Wan went against what she said. The director of the movie told Entertainment Weekly that the brother-duo dynamic was the primary focus of the sequel from the outset, rather than Aquaman’s romantic relationship.
“I always pitched this to everyone from the get-go,” he said.
“The voyage of Arthur and Mera was the first ‘Aquaman’. Arthur and Orm would always be the subject of the second film.”
Observing, “So, the first was an action-adventure romance film, and the second is an action-adventure bromance film. That will be the end of it.
