According to Daniel Carmon, the former Israeli ambassador to India, India may be arming Israel amidst its current offensive against Hamas in an effort to “return the favour” for Tel Aviv’s assistance to New Delhi in the 1999 Kargil War.
Carmon stated that the occupying country was one of the few that provided India with armaments during its conflict with neighboring Pakistan in an interview with Israel’s Ynetnews, as reported by India Today.
“The Indians always remind us that Israel was there for them during the Kargil war,” stated the envoy, who held the position of ambassador to New Delhi from 2014 to 2018. The Indians may be repaying the favor now that they remember this.”
The former ambassador made these comments in the midst of rumors that India had given Israel artillery shells and drones to help the occupying forces fight Gaza because Israel’s resources are running low as a result of the protracted conflict.
Reports surfaced back in February stating that Hyderabad, India-made Hermes 900 drones were supplied to Israel.
The Israeli Defense Forces received about twenty drones from the Hyderabad plant, which was set up to produce supplies for the Indian military.
New Delhi, however, has not commented on the remarks made by the former ambassador or confirmed the report.
According to Ynetnews, Spain prevented the cargo ship “Marianne Danica” from docking in Cartagena in May.
