Monday marks the start of the Championships, which will feature the return of Wimbledon, one of the highlights of the British athletic calendar.
These are five major storylines to watch over the next two weeks.
Raducanu is back.
Emma Raducanu’s Wimbledon experience twelve months ago included of appearing at hospitality events for her sponsors.
After undergoing surgery on both wrists and an ankle, the 21-year-old Briton missed her home Grand Slam. However, she is returning this year with a smile on her face thanks to some encouraging form.
It was quite difficult the previous year because, as you went through the player tunnel, you could see your peers.
It hurt a lot to be on the other side. I didn’t actually watch much of the tennis, and it wasn’t pleasant.
“For me to be on this side of it this year is just super special.”
Raducanu skipped the French Open on clay in order to concentrate on getting ready for the British grass season, and it appears that this decision was wise.
After making it to the Nottingham semifinals, the American world no. 5 Jessica Pegula defeated her on the way to the Eastbourne quarterfinals.
“I think I’m in a really good place,” Raducanu stated prior to Monday’s matchup with Renata Zarazua, a lucky loser from Mexico.
