Prior to Muharram, the Punjab Home Department released strict security instructions with the goal of maintaining safety and tranquility throughout the province’s religious observances.
Punjab will implement Section 144, which forbids meetings at unapproved venues in order to avert any possible unrest.
The Punjab Home Department reports that 10,426 processions and 37,376 majlis (religious assemblies) are planned, all of which are covered by comprehensive security plans. across addition, 502 important places across Punjab have been designated, and Army and Rangers men will be stationed there to uphold law and order and prevent any untoward incidents.
The department states that meetings and processions will not be permitted anywhere other than the designated routes and places.
The Home Department declared, “The movement of 1,200 individuals will be restricted in view of potential threats,” highlighting the importance of rigorous adherence to security procedures. Districts shall establish peace committees to supervise the use of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and guarantee the orderly conduct of processions and assemblies.
