A World Health Organization spokeswoman said on Tuesday that the European Hospital in Khan Younis, Gaza, is essentially vacant as both personnel and patients have left the institution following an order from the Israeli army to evacuate the surrounding regions.
Only three patients were left, according to WHO Representative for the occupied Palestinian territories Rik Peeperkorn. “The hospital staff and the patients decided to already evacuate themselves,” he said. Speaking through video link from Jerusalem, he told the UN press briefing, “We plead that the European Gaza hospital will be spared, will be non-damaged.”
