SHIGAR: The female members of the Italy-Pakistan K2 Jubilee Expedition team have begun their campaign from the K2 base camp.
The expedition team hoisted the flags of Pakistan, Italy, and the Olympics and sang Pakistan’s national anthem upon arriving at the K2 base camp.
The women climbers’ “good spirits” were praised by Italian mountaineer Agostino da Polenza, who spoke to News about the team’s incredible accomplishment.
The first successful summit occurred seven decades ago, and this unique expedition is being conducted to honor the historic achievement.
There are already multiple mountaineering records held by Italian explorers. On July 31, 1954, however, they achieved their first-ever summit of the 8,611-meter-high K2, the second-longest peak in the world.
