A high-level committee was established by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday to handle any emergency situations that may arise during the upcoming rainy season.
The prime minister ordered all pertinent institutions to stay on high alert while presiding over a conference in Islamabad about the country’s readiness for the monsoon.
According to Radio Pakistan, he also gave the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) instructions to support all provincial governments and associated institutions during the monsoon.
The premier stated that it is important to make sure that residents in impacted areas are informed about any anticipated emergencies related to the monsoon.
He suggested that farmers and those who live near rivers and canals should get advance notice through the media on a daily basis.
It was reported to the meeting that all provinces will see strong monsoon rainfall during the first and second week of this month.
It was also disclosed that this year’s monsoon rainy season will shift the country’s eastern to northern regions.
The first week of July is predicted to bring rain to the Potohar region and the eastern portion of Punjab, while the second and fourth weeks of the month will bring significant rain to Hyderabad, Karachi, Mirpur Khas, Nawabshah, Sukkur, and Karachi.
