He was giving a speech at a media briefing in Islamabad where leading journalists received an update on the government’s privatization program and plan.

He stated that the Ministry will start the process of privatizing DISCOs after consulting with Power Division, as per the government’s decision.

Earlier, the boards of nine government-owned electricity distribution businesses were dissolved with approval from the Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises.

Following Cabinet approval of the decision, these boards will be dissolved and notifications will be sent out. For nine of the eleven state-owned electricity firms, the committee has authorized the appointment of new board members.

According to sources, the Board Nominations Committee, led by the Federal Minister for Power, recommended approval to the Cabinet Committee.
