Of the thirty-two Welsh Commons seats, Labour won thirty-one (four to Plaid Cymru and one to the Liberal Democrats, Brecon, Radnor & Cwm Tawe).
The Conservatives controlled 14 of the 40 seats in the 2019 election, followed by Labour with 22, and Plaid Cymru with 4.
Welsh Tory leader Andrew RT Davies stated on X on Friday morning, “We are a party that exists to govern and improve people’s opportunities.” To be honest, we have disappointed a great deal of people.
“In Wales, from local government to the Senedd to Parliament, the Welsh Conservatives have a strong track record in our communities.
In the years leading up to 2026, we will lead the charge in reconstructing our party. First step: Quit undervaluing Conservative longtime supporters.”
In the Welsh Senedd, the Welsh Tories continue to hold 16 of the 60 seats. Welsh Labour holds exactly half of the seats, with Plaid Cymru coming in second with thirteen.
The sole member of the Welsh Liberal Democrats’ Senedd is Jane Dodds, who is now the MP for Brecon, Radnor, and Cwm Tawe.
