This week at a significant trade event in Shanghai, China’s AI industry demonstrated confidence that it will overcome Western constraints by launching cutting-edge goods created by an expanding pool of youthful talent.
The United Nations reports that China has been the leading patent filer for AI software in recent years, which generates everything from computer code to graphics. The country’s generative AI business has exhibited tremendous growth.
Exhibitors were eager to showcase their generative AI products at the World AI Conference in Shanghai on Thursday. One table featured realistic “watercolours” and software-generated paintings with a sci-fi theme.
In the meantime, a group of humanoid robots created by almost a dozen Chinese companies entertained the guests by raising and waving their hands collectively.
Even if Western regulations restricted the growth of its own enterprises, China may eventually gain from its enormous population of digital talent, according to Ethan Duan, an employee of a startup incubator.
According to Duan, AFP, “it’s still far too early to say if it’s going to also be a challenge after one year or two. A sudden cut of access to (OpenAI) API would definitely pose some challenge to many corporations right now.”
Statistics demonstrating China’s expansion of its domestic AI talent pool in recent years to satisfy the demands of its citizens support Duan’s optimism.
