The passport control list (PCL) including the names of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Parvez Elahi and his family members was ordered to be removed by the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday.
Following the claimants’ legal arguments, the court ordered that Parvez Elahi, his son Rasikh Elahi, and his daughter-in-law Zara Elahi’s names be struck from the PCL.
The former Punjab chief minister was granted bail in the Punjab Assembly unlawful recruiting case, and on May 21 of this year, he was released from Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore after being detained there for several months.
Elahi was one of the many PTI leaders who were taken into custody when the opposition party was targeted in the wake of the May 9 events.
The violent protests that erupted across the nation after PTI founder Imran Khan was detained in connection with a corruption case are referred to as the May 9 events. Attacks on both public and private property, including military sites, were part of the riots, and the army dubbed May 9th a “Black Chapter” in the history of the nation.
The former chief minister of Punjab was detained outside his home on June 1, 2023, in connection with a corruption investigation. He was freed on bond in May of this year.
