KARACHI: Tuesday afternoon saw a refreshing change in the weather as sporadic rain fell in certain areas of the city.

Old City, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Johar, Saddar, II Chundrigar Road, Malir, Airport, Quaidabad, Federal B Area, and Tariq Road are among the places that had rain.

The Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) announced earlier today that although hot and muggy weather is predicted, certain areas of the port city would see rain and thunderstorms.

The Met Office stated, “There is a likelihood of rain with thunderstorm in some parts of Karachi after noon,” and that there might be light to moderate rain in other locations.

The department also stated that the following day’s weather is predicted to be hot and muggy.

According to the PMD, the lowest temperature ever recorded in the city was 30°C, and the highest temperature is probably going to be in the range of 35° to 37°C.

“The percentage of humidity in the air is 59%,” it stated.

There could be urban floods in Karachi.
Given the anticipated heavy rainfall throughout the province, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued an urban flooding alert for Hyderabad, Karachi, and other parts of Sindh.

In the next 12 to 24 hours, Kashmore, Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Umerkot, Badin, Mithi, Tharparkar, and surrounding areas can expect sporadic showers, windstorms, and thunderstorms, according to the government agency.

The precipitation may cause medium-level overflows in nullahs and localized urban flooding, endangering the lives of those who live in low-lying areas. In addition, the NDMA has instructed local governments and provincial disaster management offices to keep a careful eye on the situation and take the necessary precautions to protect the population that is in danger.
