The incident happened at a gas station on Stenhouse Road after a Mercedes-Benz GLE was allegedly stolen on Tuesday night from the Gorgie Road area.
Around 7:05 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was riding in the automobile when it was taken.
A little while later, the adolescent managed to escape the car and was unharmed in the encounter.
According to Police Scotland, at approximately 7:25 p.m., the male constable, 32, was hurt while on foot while investigating the crime.
The cop was sent to Edinburgh’s Royal Infirmary with severe but non-life-threatening injuries, and he has subsequently been released from the hospital.
A 27-year-old male has been taken into custody on a number of accusations, including attempted murder, auto theft, kidnapping, reckless driving, and other traffic violations.
On Thursday, he is scheduled to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
“This was a very serious incident, and we are continuing to provide support to the officer and his family,” stated Detective Inspector David McAlinden.
“I want to express my gratitude to the public for responding so swiftly to help our colleague and for helping us with our inquiries while we were on the site.
We would want any other witnesses, or anyone with knowledge who has not yet spoken with police, to come forward. We are aware that the event caused damage to many vehicles in the area.
