ISLAMABAD: Sanam Javaid, a member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) who had been detained for several months, was arrested again nearly immediately after being freed on Sunday after being found not guilty in a case filed by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
After being detained for several months, the political activist on social media was released earlier today, but Islamabad police quickly arrested him.
It should be mentioned that Javaid’s release has been thwarted on several occasions. On Saturday, for example, she was freed from a Gujranwala jail; nevertheless, the FIA handcuffed her once more just minutes later.
Last Monday, the Lahore High Court (LHC) accepted the PTI activist’s request against the physical remand that an anti-terrorism court had given, but it also exonerated her of all charges in a case related to the May 9 riots.
But on Saturday, after her release from jail, the FIA team booked and arrested her in a new case related to the events of May 9.
According to The News, the FIA Cyber Crime Cell filed a case against her on May 9 for allegedly posting statements encouraging people to attack the Jinnah House.
Javaid was apprehended and sent to Islamabad by the FIA team. There, she appeared in a district and sessions court to get a remand.
