During a season in which the Bavarians would go on to win the Bundesliga, German Cup, and Champions League, the then-18-year-old attacker was featured in some of Hansi Flick’s first games as Bayern manager.
Zirkzee contributed significantly to their victory in the domestic league while not being a regular.
Bayern was fifth in the standings in December 2019 and appeared to be losing ground on their opponents as they were tied 1-1 at Freiburg going into the ninetieth minute.
After being substituted, Zirkzee made a major impression in just 104 seconds by converting a feed from Serge Gnabry, who would later score in injury time to complete Bayern’s 3-1 triumph.
A few days later, against Wolfsburg at home, Zirkzee came off the bench to save them once more. This time, he needed 149 seconds to make the breakthrough in the 85th minute, and Gnabry added another to seal the victory with a score of 2-0.
