Thailand has announced that visitors from 93 countries will not need a visa, which will significantly increase the country’s tourism sector. With the implementation of this exciting new policy, travelers from these countries can now spend up to 60 days in the “Land of Smiles” without having to deal with the burden of obtaining a visa.

This privilege was formerly limited to passport holders from 57 countries. Millions of tourists are anticipated to visit Thailand as a result of this enormous expansion, which is projected to boost the country’s largely tourist-dependent economy.

Who gains?

Many nations are covered by the visa-free program, including well-known travel hubs like the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada as well as developing nations like China, Brazil, India, and China. But it’s crucial to remember that Pakistanis are currently excluded.

Thailand’s surge in tourism

The COVID-19 pandemic’s effects have been gradually alleviated for Thailand’s tourism industry. In the first half of this year, the nation welcomed an astounding 17.5 million foreign tourists, up 35% from the same period in 2023. Thailand’s continued popularity as a top travel destination is demonstrated by the increase in visitor numbers.

Additional amendments pertaining to visas

Thailand has extended its visa-free program to include a five-year visa for foreign workers, which permits them to stay for up to 180 days annually. In addition, foreign students who have completed a bachelor’s degree or above are now permitted to remain in the nation for a year following graduation in order to research possible careers or travel destinations.

These modifications demonstrate Thailand’s dedication to luring in highly qualified labor.
