LAHORE: Former political secretary to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Dr. Syed Asif Kirmani, expressed strong views about the state of the party today, claiming that members of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had infiltrated the N-League and that these people “do not represent the true face of the PML-N.”
Kirmani abruptly declared on Saturday that she was leaving the PML-N, criticizing the ruling party’s upper leadership. He said that he had previously cut ties with the Nawaz-led party’s politics a long time ago.
The veteran of the previous N-League left the party due to disagreements with the senior leadership’s choice to form a government after the general election on February 8th, even in the face of accusations of election manipulation.
