Although there had been brief downpours in Karachi over the previous few days, the city’s temperature felt scorching at 53°C on Sunday, and the heat does not appear to be abating.

Despite much-anticipated showers that have been battering sections of the city since Friday, the Met Office said that the temperature reached as high as 40°C, feeling more like 53°C in actuality. The city is still experiencing extremely hot and muggy weather.

Today was the third day in a row of sporadic downpours in the metropolis; moderate drizzle was observed in certain locations close to Jinnah International Airport.

There have also been some mild to moderate rainfall in Surjani Town, Sohrab Goth, Safoora Chowrangi, FB Area, and Sharea Faisal.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), clouds that bring rain could spread. In Karachi, the temperature reached dangerously high levels last week, resulting in at least two fatalities from the excessive heat. Despite the power utility’s guarantees, the public had to endure hours of unscheduled load shedding, which made their lives miserable.

On July 17, the city’s temperature hit a sizzling 40.5°C, which felt more like a searing 56°C.
