Indian Navy ship INS Brahmaputra destroyed by fire at Mumbai Naval Dockyard

Incident adds to series of accidents in Indian Navy

A fire at the Mumbai Naval Dockyard has seriously damaged the Indian Navy ship INS Brahmaputra. Indian media reports claim that the fire was started by the carelessness and recklessness of the sailors.

This incident represents the most recent in a string of mishaps and disputes involving the Indian Navy. Two officers and seven other sailors perished in the INS Sindhuratna submarine fire in February 2014. The only nuclear submarine in India was involved in an accident in October 2017 as a result of carelessness. Three sailors lost their lives in an explosion that occurred on January 18, 2022, on board the INS Ranvir.

Allegations of corruption have also been made against the Indian Navy, including one that included the 2013 acquisition of the Barak missile system. March 8, 2023 is the date.

Concerns concerning the Indian Navy’s maintenance protocols, professional standards, and training methods have been brought up by these occurrences. Opponents contend that these incidents expose the naval force’s shortcomings and bad leadership.
