KARACHI: In response to an armed confrontation that left five people dead in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA), police moved quickly on Friday, conducting raids at many locations and apprehending as many as 17 people.
According to South Syed Asad Raza, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), three individuals were found to carry guns during the police raids.
Two tribes of the Bugti tribe clashed in the city’s upscale neighborhood, resulting in at least five deaths and two injuries.
The incident happened in Khayaban-e-Nishat, DHA, between the Fahad Bugti gang and the Ali Haider Bugti faction. The murdered and injured were the relatives of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, the assassinated leader of the Baloch people.Mir Esa Bugti, Ali, Fahad Bugti, Naseebullah, and Mir Mesum Bugti were named among the deceased. According to hospital administration, Qaim Ali and Mir Ali Haider Bugti were shot.
Despite the fact that no first information report (FIR) has been submitted as of yet, DIG Raza has stated that two cases will be brought in tandem with both organizations.
The police officer emphasized that a “old family dispute” was the cause of the deadly altercation on Thursday night, stating that according to the accounts, both groups were really meeting for negotiations before things went south and shots were exchanged between their vehicles.
