PESHAWAR: On Monday, Mullah Mohammad Hasan Akhund, the acting prime minister of Afghanistan, declared that his nation has no desire to harm or cause issues for Pakistan or any other neighboring nation.

Mullah Hasan Akhund stated during a meeting with a delegation of religious leaders from Pakistan headed by Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUIF), that they handled every issue in Afghanistan in accordance with Islamic Sharia since the nation was governed by it and Sharia forbade harming anyone or any other nation, including Pakistan.

The interim prime minister of Afghanistan reaffirmed that no country would be allowed to use its territory against another.

However, he demanded a stop to the “cruel attitude of the Pakistan government authorities” toward the Afghan refugees, claiming that rather than solving problems, such acts just made matters worse.

According to Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the Afghan interim government, Mullah Akhund welcomed and valued the Pakistani religious leaders’ assistance in clearing up disagreements and misunderstandings in Kabul.

According to Mujahid, the delegation also spoke about other problems that the two nations’ businessmen were facing. He claimed that because Afghanistan and Pakistan shared so many characteristics, Akhund assured the religious authorities in Pakistan that the two nations could never be divided.

Both parties emphasized the need to find new means of resolving disputes and refrain from actions that can exacerbate tensions between them.

In addition to Fazl, those in attendance at the meeting were Maulana Abdul Wasey, Maulana Salahuddin, Maulana Kamaluddin, Maulana Jamaluddin, Maulana Salimuddin Shamzai, Maulana Imdadullah, Maulana Sheikh Mohammad Idrees, Dr. Atiqur Rahman, and Mufti Ibrar.

Hasan Akhund represented the Afghan government, which was joined by a number of senior officials, including the minister of Hajj and Auqaf, Maulvi Noor Mohammad Saqib, the top judge of Afghanistan, Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi, and other ministers.

Muttaqi emphasized the need to assist the traders and businesspeople from the two nations.

“Our visit’s main goal is to end the mistrust that exists between Pakistan and Afghanistan,” Fazl stated. He informed the Afghan representatives that JUIF has voiced opposition to the Pakistani government’s treatment of the Afghan refugees, citing it as one of the causes of the tensions that exist between the two nations. “We think that our message of solidarity will have a positive effect in Afghanistan,” stated Fazl.

Meanwhile, sources claim that the Pakistani Taliban are unaware of any impending meeting between them and the country’s religious leaders. Nonetheless, during their visit to Afghanistan, the hosts of the Pakistani delegation might schedule meetings with specific Pakistani Taliban officials.
