Westminster Magistrates’ Court heard testimony from him after he acknowledged possessing 41 pornographic photos of kids that a different individual had sent him via WhatsApp.
Two of the seven category A photographs, which represent the most severe rating, featured a child in the age range of seven to nine years old.
Edwards was a regular front-runner for large national event coverage on News at Ten until the end of the previous year.
On Wednesday, Edwards arrived and exited the court, surrounded by photographers and with police officers on either side of him.
Both outside of court and during the less than 45-minute hearing, he remained silent.
He calmly and softly answered “guilty” three times as the charges were read to him.
According to what the court heard, he had been chatting online on WhatsApp with an adult male since December 2020. The man sent him 377 sexual images, 41 of which contained explicit pictures of youngsters.
Images can refer to both still photos and video clips under the law. The majority of the category A photographs, according to the Crown Prosecution Service, appeared to show kids between the ages of 13 and 15, however one or two movies included a younger youngster, maybe seven or nine.
