RAWALPINDI: The military’s media arm stated on Tuesday that Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey discussed a potential partnership in defense equipment technology on Monday, including research and development (R&D).
According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), this was discussed at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi during the second meeting of the Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkiye Trilateral Defence Collaboration.
In order to accomplish common goals and establish self-sufficiency in the defense sector, “the three sides reaffirmed the importance of combining the intellectual, technical, financial, and human resource of the three friendly nations,” the ISPR stated.
The three parties reaffirmed their strategic intention to expand the scope of trilateral cooperation and the necessity of accelerating collaboration while acknowledging the historical fraternal ties.
The next conference on trilateral defense-industrial collaboration is scheduled to take place in February in Riyadh at the World Defence Show, according to the ISPR.
SA and Pakistan said they want to strengthen their defense cooperation.
A day earlier, the GHQ in Rawalpindi hosted the third meeting of the Pakistan-KSA Defence Collaboration.
The forum, according to the ISPR, highlighted the importance of the two states’ historical ties to one another. It also stated that topics of mutual interest and the changing security landscape were discussed by the participants.
The media wing stated that the two sides discussed the need for defense industry cooperation between the two governments in order to achieve common objectives, as well as the rapid improvements in military technologies.
According to the statement, in order to become self-sufficient in the area of defense manufacturing, both parties underlined their desire to strengthen defense cooperation across all spheres.
It further stated that the meeting reaffirmed the necessity of looking into new defense cooperation opportunities and accelerating collaboration.
