Although cops in Liverpool and Durham issued dispersal orders to prevent further unrest, Tuesday night was devoid of the violent incidents that have occurred throughout the UK since the initial protests in Southport a week ago.
A list of solicitors’ firms and advisory agencies has been published in chat forums as potential targets for gatherings, with the message asking individuals to “mask up” if they come.
The Law Society of England and Wales described such gatherings as a “direct assault on our legal profession,” while Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood stated that threats against solicitors were “unacceptable” and those who made them would “join the hundreds of others who have already been arrested by police within the last week.”
Approximately 6,000 specialist officers will be available by the end of the week for the so-called “standing army” of police, which Sir Keir revealed on Monday. These cops have been removed from their regular duties to deal with the ongoing unrest.
