When News questioned Richie at a Grammy Museum special event how he believes Underwood would be a different judge than Perry, he said, “Everyone is different than Katy.”

Richie added that the one thing he does not want Underwood to do is attempt to be like Perry, as everyone offers something unique to the panel.
There is only one Katy. “Let me just make that clear,” Richie told News during the Grammy Museum’s special screening of “The Greatest Night in Pop.”

I’d like Carrie to come in and find her person out there.

I’m glad Carrie was chosen since she will bring a unique perspective to the table.

The “All Night Long” singer said that he’s thrilled to have the former “American Idol” champion on board, calling Underwood “the perfect fit.”

“Carrie knows this better than anyone. She arrived from here. Here’s where she started. So, we welcome her. Her contribution to this event is going to be incredible,” Richie said.
