ISLAMABAD: On Friday, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) predicted that during the next 72 hours, rain, wind, and thundershowers are forecast in some areas of Sindh, including Karachi.
Rainfall with thundershowers in some areas is expected until August 12 in Badin, Chhor, Dadu, Hyderabad, Jacobabad, Jamshoro, Karachi, Khairpur, Larkana, Mithi, Mitayari, Mirpur Khas, Nausheroferoze, Padidan, Sajawal, Sanghar, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur, Tando Allayar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tharparkar, Thatta, and Umarkot.
Furthermore, there is a higher risk of Glacier Lake Outburst Flood (Glof) events, flash floods, landslides, and mudslides in the vulnerable areas of Gilgit Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially in districts Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Astore, and Gilgit, due to rising temperatures and the current weather, which includes rain and wind thunderstorms.The public has been urged by the disaster management authorities to stay away from these locations when it’s expected to rain, especially in the vicinity of streams, rivers, and nullahs.
