BULAWAYO: Corbin Bosch's all-around skill and rookie Lhuan-dre Pretorius's record-breaking century helped South Africa defeat Zimbabwe by a resounding 328 runs in the opening Test match. In the first Test of the two-match series, the home team's batting line collapsed on a pitiful 208 runs while chasing a difficult 537-run goal. Bosch removed the number three batsman on the first ball of the day, giving Zimbabwe the worst possible start as they attempted to rally from 32-1 through opener Prince Masvaure and Nick Welch (0). Following the early blow, Masvaure was joined by first-innings centurion Sean Williams for a short 32-run partnership.

Today, Wednesday, was the coldest night of the winter season so far this year in Karachi, with a low of 12 degrees Celsius.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts that the city will likely see cold, dry weather for the next 24 hours.

According to the Met Office, the highest temperature will probably increase to between 25 and 27°C, with the mercury possibly falling as low as 10 to 12°C in the next several days.

There was a 60% humidity level recorded, and 3 km/h winds were coming from the northeast.

Speaking with chief meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz, he revealed that the lowest recorded temperature for this winter season was 11.5°C in December.

The chief meteorologist reported that on January 14, of last year, the port city’s temperature fell to 6°C.

He continued by saying that Karachi’s weather might get colder over the course of the following three to four days, with a minimum temperature of 10°C. The cold will persist for the next two to three weeks, according to Sarfaraz as well.

Furthermore, according to the chief meteorologist, this winter’s weather was not as chilly.

According to a recent study from the EU’s climate agency, 2023 has formally become the warmest year on record, with temperatures rising by over 1.48°C over prior records.

This exceptional warmth was caused by El Niño weather phenomena and human-induced climate change, with global air and sea surface temperatures constantly setting records.A remarkable and protracted period of warmth was created starting in July, when a new global air temperature record was achieved nearly every day.
