Woods backed a piece earlier this week that questioned the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) choice to permit Khelif and Yu-ting, who both took home gold in their respective competitions, to compete.
According to the story, letting Khelif and Yu-ting compete was not “fair” and put women in “unnecessary danger”.
The sports and TV presenter said she was subjected to a barrage of hate on the internet in retaliation, including threats of death directed at her and her unborn child.
“Since I replied to this article, I’ve had numerous death threats to myself and my unborn child,” Woods stated on Thursday.
Along with explicit abuse, she claimed there had been “calls for my employers to sack me, threats to my home”.
“I’ve been called a racist, a bigot and a sexist as well as various insults – c***, sl*g etc,” she stated.
At the Paris Olympics, Khelif won gold in the women’s welterweight division. However, she was the subject of a contentious controversy as her first opponent withdrew after 46 seconds, saying she had “never been hit so hard.”
After their fight, Italian fighter Angela Carini expressed regret for her behavior and expressed appreciation for Khelif’s participation.
