The two heckled the American stand-up comedian over a joke, calling it “not funny,” and on Sunday night, The Telegraph said, he was heard urging them to leave his Fluffy Fluffy Beavers event.
The 55-year-old reportedly made a joke during the Sunday performance in the Assembly George Square Studios comparing Israel to an abusive partner, which made most of the people in attendance chuckle.
Hunter addressed the situation in a statement on Thursday, saying: “In my new show, Fluffy Fluffy Beaver, there was an unfortunate incident.”
It’s my job as a comic to push the boundaries of humor creation.
This unavoidably led to disagreements, but I firmly oppose both war and bullying. I apologize for any anxiety I may have given the attendees and venue personnel.”
The play was described as the “most unpleasant comedy gig I’ve ever attended” by Dominic Cavendish, chief theatre critic at The Telegraph, who was present.
Cavendish stated in his show review, “In the past, I’ve had time for Hunter, a free-thinking outsider who has lived in the UK since 1997.”
