Before abruptly closing its print edition and website earlier this month, US-based Game Informer had been in operation for 33 years.
The developers of horror game The Casting of Frank Stone told News they were “incredibly honoured” to have their work appear on Game Informer’s final front cover.
The magazine’s owner, GameStop, has been contacted for comment.
Horror game with a narrative and a choose-your-own-adventure format UK studio Supermassive Games and Dead by Daylight creator Behaviour Interactive collaborated on The Casting of Frank Stone.
Traci Tufte from Supermassive told the News that reporters visited both teams to produce the in-depth piece that was featured in Game Informer.
“The team that we worked with was absolutely fantastic,” she stated.
“The coverage was wonderful, and I’m grateful that I personally had that opportunity.”
Around the world, Game Informer was well-known for regularly providing exclusive coverage of the most anticipated new releases.
Canadian studio Behaviour’s Mathieu Côté expressed gratitude for being featured in the magazine’s “legendary final issue” and called himself fortunate.
He remarked, “It’s sad news for everybody.”
“It’s such a tentpole of video game journalism. It’ll be much-missed.”
Since Game Informer closed, its website has been down, making years’ worth of articles—including its coverage of Frank Stone—unavailable.
