During a tackle with Antoine Semenyo in the seventh minute of Saturday’s game at The City Ground, the Brazilian football player stumbled badly.
As soon as the referee and Danilo’s teammates noticed his situation, they called for help. The 23-year-old was subsequently given medical attention while staff members hurried onto the field and placed screens around him.
Danilo, who joined Forest from Palmeiras last year, was stretchered off with a splint in his left leg, causing the Premier League match to be delayed for ten minutes.
Nuno Espirito Santo, the manager of Forest, stated following the game that the player was hospitalized due to a broken ankle.
Laura Hunter, a sports reporter monitoring the game, called the altercation a “really nasty clash” and said Danilo was “majorly concerned.”
“There is almost a complete hush around the City Ground before Danilo is stretchered off by the medical team and ambulance staff,” she stated.
Ryan Yates took Danilo’s place, and the match continued, ending in a 1-1 draw.
“It was a horrible moment for everybody,” Santo said in a post-game statement. “He is at the hospital now; we just got the report from the doctor; there are still some exams to go through, but he has broken his ankle.”
