Following the Pakistan Army’s arrest of Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hamid, the former head of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has distanced himself from the retired general.
August 12, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) declared the former chief of the ISI to have been arrested and “taken into custody” due to accusations of stealing valuables and taking land from a private housing society’s owner.
“Complying with the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, a detailed court of inquiry was undertaken by the Pakistan Army to ascertain the correctness of complaints in the Top City Case made against Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hamid,” the media arm of the army announced earlier this week.”I have no connection with General (retd) Faiz,” the PTI leader who is currently detained stated to reporters on Thursday at Adiala Jail.
“The military should go ahead and take action if it desires General Faiz’s accountability,” Khan declared, maintaining that it is an internal problem pertaining to the army.
