Darius Visser smashed six sixes in an over to help Samoa set a new record for men’s T20 International runs in an over with 39 runs.
In the fifteenth over, the 28-year-old faced Vanuatu seamer Nalin Nipiko and six times he cleared the boundary rope. In the nine deliveries, he faced three no-balls and one dot-ball.
Visser became the first Samoan to achieve an international century with a final score of 132 off 62 balls, which included 14 sixes and five fours.
At Garden Oval No. 2 in Apia, Samoa, Samoa secured a 10-run victory over Vanuatu by posting 174 runs and Visser taking a wicket.
The previous men’s Twenty20 International record for most runs in an over was 36, set in 2007 during the first T20 World Cup by India’s Yuvraj Singh, who blasted six consecutive sixes off England’s Stuart Broad.
Other people who have scored thirty-six runs in an over are India’s Rohit Sharma and Rinku Singh, who earlier this year combined for thirty-six against Afghanistan, Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee, and the West Indies’ Kieron Pollard and Nicholas Pooran.
As a women’s T20 international, Florencia Martinez of Chile gave up 52 runs in one over against Argentina in 2023.
