Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has insisted that former intelligence chief Faiz Hameed face an open trial.
During a casual conversation with reporters on Wednesday at Adiala Jail, the former prime minister made a number of controversial remarks about General Faiz Hameed’s trial and the May 9 conspiracy case.
Presently serving a prison sentence, Imran declared: “I demand the army chief conduct the trial of General Faiz in an open court.”
He contended that both his and Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed’s cases involved issues that went beyond internal military matters and had an impact on Pakistan’s reputation. Which democracy, Imran questioned, is a former prime minister being tried by a military court?
