A research published by the Free and Fair Election Network has revealed that the tribunals designated under the Elections Act of 2017 to resolve complaints relating to elections would not be able to fulfill their 180-day deadline.
Only 7% of the 377 petitions have been decided thus far, according to Fafen, with the tribunals in Balochistan being the only ones to achieve a double-digit disposal rate of 17%. With case disposal rates of 7%, 4%, and 0.5 percent, respectively, Sindh, KP, and Punjab trail far behind, and the tribunal designated to handle the seats in Islamabad has not yet resolved a single case. Of the eight sanctioned courts, only two still operate in Punjab, the region where the most challenges have been submitted.
