A 29-month-old Hyderabad girl has tested positive for the polio virus, marking the 16th instance of the disease reported in Pakistan this year.
The prime minister’s liaison for the anti-polio program, Ayesha Raza Farooq, claims that reports of the polio virus have been made in Hyderabad for the past four months.
“Every child is at risk if the poliovirus is present anywhere,” the speaker stated.
The polio virus has been present in the regions of Hyderabad and Karachi for several months, according to Anwarul Haque, Coordinator of the National Emergency Operations Center. An anti-polio campaign is being held starting on September 9th to boost children’s immunity.
