KARACHI: On Monday night, severe winds and heavy rain battered areas of the metropolitan port city. The Meteorological Office predicted that rains may occur in the Sindh province from August 27 to August 31.
While thunderstorms, strong winds, and drizzle were reported near the airport, Malir Cantt and the surrounding areas had rain showers accompanied by gusty winds.
Strong winds and light to heavy rain were experienced at Gulistan-e-Johar, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Tariq Road, PECHS, FB Area, Bufferzone, II Chundrigar Road, and the surrounding areas.
There were also some sections of Defense that saw rain showers.
The port city is anticipated to get between 150 and 200 millimeters of rainfall, according to Met Chief Sardar Sarfaraz, who spoke earlier at the meeting on rain emergency measures presided over by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
