Both wheelchair tennis player Shuker and wheelchair basketball player Bywater are seasoned Paralympians who competed for Great Britain in their seventh and fifth Games, respectively.
Shuker, 44, and Bywater, 41, will fly the British flag during the opening ceremony on Wednesday night at Place de la Concorde.
The French capital hosts the 2024 Games from August 28 to September 8, 2024.
Since making his Games debut in 2000, Bywater has helped ParalympicsGB win four bronze medals.
At Beijing 2008, Shuker made her debut for Great Britain, winning two bronze and one silver medal with Jordanne Whiley.
Bywater, who was born in Middlesbrough, stated on the ParalympicsGB website: “It’s a dream come true. I’m feeling very emotional.” This is all a little strange right now because this is my seventh Games and I also wear a seven vest.
It hasn’t really dawned on me to fly the Union flag, to be honest. I’m merely incredibly proud.”
Shuker went on, “It will be very unusual to lead the march down the Champs-Elysées and Place de la Concorde—not only will everyone be looking at me, but also at the rest of the Paralympics.
