Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen, who may soon be leaving their Italian clubs, have been called up to play for Nigeria in their AFCON qualifiers for 2025 against Benin and Rwanda next month.
William Ekong, Ola Aina, and Taiwo Awoniyi were also recalled to the Super Eagles’ squad on Wednesday. These players had been sidelined for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers owing to injury, but they will now be back on the field. On September 7, the qualifiers begin in Uyo with a matchup against Benin. Three days later, there will be a match in Rwanda.
Before Friday’s transfer deadline, Osimhen—who Chelsea is reportedly interested in—and Lookman—who has been linked to moves to Arsenal and PSG—may depart from Napoli and Atalanta, respectively.
