South Korean singer Taeil has left the K-pop group NCT following allegations of an undisclosed sexual offense.
The 30-year-old member of NCT will leave the boy band after finding out he has been “accused in a criminal case related to a sexual crime,” according to a statement his agency, news , posted on X.
Though the label did not elaborate on the specifics of the alleged offense, it stated that Taeil, whose real name is Moon Tae-il, could no longer “continue his activities with the team” because it “recognised the seriousness of the situation”.
Taeil has not addressed the accusations in the media.
Entertainment went on to say that he is helping the police investigation in any way possible.
According to South Korean media, the Bangbae Police Station in Seoul declared it was looking into Taeil in connection with a sexual offense.
Police could not be reached for comment by the news.
Taeil was a member of the 2016-debuting, widely acclaimed South Korean boy band NCT, or Neo Culture Technology.
Presently, the group comprises more than twenty members, split among multiple subunits such as NCT 127, NCT Dream, and NCT Wish.
