A man who desecrated the Holy Quran was sentenced to life in jail by a district and sessions court in Karachi on Thursday.
The decision was made public by Additional District and Sessions Judge Shahid Ali Memon. The prosecution effectively established the charges against Ali Haider, and the court sentenced him to life in prison.
The culprit was caught in the act of sacrilege on June 4, 2021, in the city’s Zia Colony.
After the Fajr prayers, Haider was discovered desecrating the sacred book, according to the prosecution. At the Korangi Police Station, a case was opened against him.
The law stipulates that desecration of the Quran carries a life sentence and insulting the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) carries a death sentence.
