Smith of Liverpool will take against Beterbiev, the unbeaten unified light-heavyweight champion with a perfect career knockout percentage.
Despite being the underdog versus Beterbiev on foreign land, Smith, 33, claims he is not thinking about the champion’s strength.
“The best version of me beats anyone in the world,” Smith stated.
“I firmly support that. Now is the moment. I’m prepared to win the global championship in two divisions.”
Smith’s one loss in his career comes from multiple weight world champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. Smith was once a super-middleweight world champion.
38-year-old Russian Beterbiev is the current IBF, WBC, and WBO champion. He has 19 stoppage victories under his belt, including seven clean KOs.
One of those stoppages occurred in an exciting match a year ago against British player Anthony Yarde.
